DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
This mural painting dates back to the 15th century. It is housed inside the Church of San Giovanni Battista in Farnetella, and the fresco gives its name to the Chapel of the Madonna delle Nevi.
Upon entering the church, this chapel is located on the left side of the nave. The painting was recently the focus of a major restoration project.
The restoration began in March 2022 and was completed in October 2023. Its discovery was made during wall cleaning, which revealed some hidden parts of the fresco, previously covered by old layers of white plaster.
The project, called "L'arte ritrovata," received support from the Polisportiva Farnetella, the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation, and numerous citizens through an online fundraiser.
