The building was constructed at the end of the XIIIth century by the Silvestrine Friars. The church was a place of worship until the end of 1600, when it was endowed to the Episcopal Seminary . Lately the building has restructured with two stories. The travertine entrance portal, dated 1400, originally in the church of Saint Mary of Cavina, is made of two Ionic order pilasters, that support an architrave, surmounted by a spandrel. On its right, there’s located a grave stone, dated 1300, portraying a monk. In 1988, frescoes with “Episodes of Saint Sylvester’s Life” , dated 1412 have been brought to light. The other fresco representing the Crucifixion , a Madonna and Saint John was probably painted in the same period.
